Search Tips
If you’re having trouble finding stuff on a search engine, try these search tips to get better results
- Use two or three words that describe exactly what you want for example, Ancient Rome
- Leave out words like; the, and, a, how, where, why
- Always check your spelling
- Use speech marks when you search for a phrase, e.g. “Olympic games”
- Add + before very important words, e.g. Olympics +history
Decide what information you need to find on your topic
- Brainstorm what you already know
- Make a concept map to organise your ideas
- Write questions to find the information you need
- Choose some keywords from your questions to help you find information
